Uk Advice
Just to update you on the puppies, they are all doing well (as is their mother) and are growing exponentially!
In a response to a comment posted recently, I am not sure yet where I will be living in London. And so I am asking any UK readers out there to give me some suggested locations.
I want to live in either Zone 1 or Zone 2. And since we have dogs, I am looking to rent a house with a yard and preferably some park space. I doubt that I will have a car, so I will also need to live in a neighbourhood that has decent grocery store and other amenities at least sort of nearby. I also want a fairly safe neighbourhood.
Any suggestions?

I uesed to live in Finchley. It's a little bit further out, but it's a lovely area.
Rye.. it kind of depends on your budget and where your Workplace is. Make sure you have good transport/tube links to work... cos even rain or snow can screw up our networks (yeah ok we live in the Northern Hemisphere but hey it never works every winter).
But to really enjoy London, live in Zone 1. Chelsea, Notting Hill, Baywater, South Kensington are very nice (and according priced) They are all very close to major parks.. so good for the dogs and if you guys want to jog etc. Chelsea is nice as its very international and close to the river.. so romantic for walks. Battersea on the other side of the river is nice too but transport is a bit bad. Clapham is also pretty cool for young professionals and young families (known as Nappy Valley for obvious reasons). The urban areas such as London Bridge, Bermondsey, South Bank on the South are very urban. But close to the City (if you work in the City).. no parks near there. Also to the north of the city for more Urban (ie lofts, warehouses) - you can try Clarkenwell, Hoxton, Shoreditch, Spitafields.
I live in Chelsea.. which is think is fantastic.. lots of restaurants, great one of boutiques, grocery stores, good quality supermarkets. I used to live in Notting Hill which is probably a bit trendier.. but I find it too touristy thanks to that movie.
In terms of gay areas I guess anywhere applies!! But Soho, Earls Court and maybe Clapham are more gay (others help???). Btw the feel free to email me on cool_grove@yahoo.co.uk if you want more advice and want to hook up for a coffee when you get here. My LTB is from Toronto.. so It would seem I already have a Canadian connection. Good luck.
If you want an actual house that's not an apartment, with some kind of garden, then I assume you have a million quid lying about? If that is the case, then yeah. Primrose Hill - 112 acre park, you live near Jude Law, and if the incredible views from the hill itself aren't enough, then you can go to Regent's Park which is 5 minutes from it for long walks. As I say, I asked for a quote on a house there only yesterday and it was £2.95 million. So really. Don't get your hopes up about having any kind of house with garden unless you're rich. There's pretty much gay life anywhere in zones 1 or 2, though around the most central places it is busiest. Bloomsbury is nice, too, near University College London - the houses are also a bit cheaper there. I personally like Clerkenwell in EC1, though it's REALLY not a place to have a dog. Anyway. I feel a bit weird posting on a blog that I just clicked on while oggling that guy from Neighbours on someone else's blog, so I'll be off now. Good luck!
I'm gonna suggest Tufnell Park or Kentish Town in North London, as it's not nearly as expensive as Primrose Hill but near Hampstead Heath (biggest Park in North London), safe, has houses with gardens, gay friendly, decent shops and close to tube in Zone 2 (just outside of zone 1 and b near Camden Town). Basically you've gotta choose between North and South - terrible transport South of the River but quieter, cheaper and more space - or North, more buzzy, easy links to town (15 minutes to Tottenham Court Road from Tufnell Park on tube) and some decent parks and housing, but pricier.
I live in Crouch End, just into Zone 3 so maybe too far out for your needs, but have lived in London 20 years (with dogs) and recommend North!
NB Don't be tempted East or West!
Hey, reading some of the other comments there seems to be a North London bias! I live in Clapham. It's great. There's a huge common for walking and there is a high street with loads of shops, restaurants and bars. It's fairly gay too, but not in your face.

Soz to have missed your post here about London. London is an expensive place to live at the moment, there's no two ways about it. So if you need your own outdoor space, it's likely to be very expensive in central London. East London tends to be cheaper, but less safe. I think the best advice will depend on what kind of places you'll be frequenting, i.e. where you'll be working.
