Too Early
Don't get me wrong, I love Christmas.
But on the way to work yesterday (October 30!), I noticed that a large department store in Montreal already had Christmas displays up in their windows.
Now it used to be that people would at least wait until after Halloween. Do we really need two months of Christmas - let alone two months of Christmas music....well, except for the Boney M Christmas album... ahhhh ....Disco Xmas

If you think that's bad, the store that I work in has its Christmas shop set up on the 1st of September!
Yep and Waitrose in London started stock xmas foood stuff a month ago. My god you would have to be some Domestic God/Godess/Martha Stewart to bake cakes that early! This year it feels even weirder as we have very mild weather.. 19c last weekend, people still in flips flops and the xmas stuff is in the shops. Feel very dislocated. May go to India or somewhere warm to escape xmas.
I received an email Christmas greeting from a friend tonight, who seemed pleased she was so organised and early. I'm not opening it for another 2 weeks at least (and I'll tell her I'm not impressed by her punctuality).
Here in Sydney I saw Christmas cards and decorations in one of the stores over a month ago. The supermarkets here will have easter eggs for sale as soon as Valentine's Day is over! Too much, too soon
I dread the day after Halloween, as that is the day that Christmas Marketing and commercialism begins to take it's grasp. I've already found myself humming Xmas tunes...shootme please.
BTW, great site.
It is the same here in Aussieland and gets earlier every year..Christmas in July anyone?
They want your money.
Having Christmas decorations in October is just as bad as seeing Back-to-School stuff the middle of the summer.
Should. Not. Happen.
